Fifty students competed in the West Greene School District's spelling bee on Jan. 31. Jeffrey Polander, who coordinated the spelling bee, stands with the top three spellers, from left, Beckett Blouir, fifth grade, first place; Joel Grimes, eighth grade, second place; and Rylee Carmichael, 6th grade, third place. The students were awarded plaques and a cash prize. Beckett will complete an online test in hopes of qualifying to compete in the Western PA Spelling Bee.
