The flags and recognitions will be on display for approximately two weeks during the Veterans Day timeframe. Please complete an application and return it to Ms. Garlick by October 18. School Portrait Day at the JSHS is Friday, September 13. Pictures will be taken during the morning for grades 7 through 12. Happy 1st Day of School! We had ourselves one of the best First Days in quite some time. Our students were so polite and welcoming on their first day back. It was nice to see their smiling faces in the hallways again. We appreciate everyone's collaborative efforts from parents to teachers, cafe to custodial staff, and bus drivers to clerical for all of their efforts. This year is already hitting differently than the previous ones...Let's make this year the best one yet! #PioneerProud

"We have Liftoff!" Our summer program came to a close Friday, June 28 with a community picnic after two weeks of exploring Space! Students traveled to Carnegie Science Center this week, built their own models of our Solar System, built their own space shuttles from Legos, and shared what they had learned with their parents/guardians on our last day. We had a BLAST! Thank you all for joining us. We hope everyone has an amazing summer and we can't wait for our next summer's adventures.

The WPIAL has teamed up with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank in an effort to raise both food donations and funds to support students and families in the Western Pennsylvania area in need. The West Greene School District is taking part in this cause from August 19 to December 6. Items that can be donated include physical food donations (canned goods, bagged rice, etc.) and monetary donations. Donations will be accepted at the entrances for both home varsity football and volleyball games prior to the start of the event.

The start of school is quickly approaching. I wanted to this opportunity to remind everyone of the PARENT DROP-OFF and PICK-UP procedures. Parents may begin dropping students off at 7:55 AM. Elementary students arriving after 8:30 AM will be marked "tardy" and need to be signed in at the elementary office. Afternoon PICK-UP begins at 3:05 PM. All afternoon parent pick-ups need to be picked up by 3:25 PM. Please refer to the attached diagram showing the routes to follow when dropping off/picking up students.

CLASS OF 2024 SENIOR SPOTLIGHT - KAYLEE NICHOLE PATTISON. Kaylee is a member of Science Club, and Youth Traffic Safety Council. In her free time, she likes hiking, reading, baking, and hanging out with friends. After graduation, Kaylee plans to get a job and attend Waynesburg University for Psychology. Our 2024 1st-6th grade summer program is already underway and what an amazing start! This year's theme is Space On allowing our students to explore our solar system. Already this week our students have explored facts about Earth, started diving into NASA and its very interactive website, and even created their own phases of our moon using Oreos. On June 19th our students traveled to the WVU planetarium. Here students viewed our solar system as if they were in space!! Such an amazing experience right in our own backyard!!! More updates to come as the program continues until June 28.
