Please join us on Tuesday, December 16, at 6:00 PM in the high school auditorium for West Greene Elementary's annual Christmas Program! This event is a great way to welcome the holiday season and bring the West Greene community together as the students sing a variety of festive songs.
Students in Mrs. Shannon's 5th grade Social Studies Classes are learning about the Branches of Government. Today, students got to experience a simulation activity of the Executive Branch. They looked at the roles and responsibilities of the President, Vice President, Cabinet, and Congress members.

Our new story stroll story Gingerbread Friends by Jan Brett has been installed. We hope you can stop by to read this story in December or January!

Students in Mrs. Shannon's Social Studies Class are working together to label and read different types of maps. Students are practicing map skills and how to interpret information on maps.
Ms. Garlick's students practiced their math, reading and skills for life by making homemade pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving. They each took their creation home to share with family. Thank you to Mrs. Fedak and her advanced Family Consumer Science students for helping and teaching us some great tricks!
On November 24th, through a partnership with Walmart and Allegheny County Camp Cadet, our local law enforcement and Waynesburg Walmart hosted Greene County's first ever Shop with a Cop event. Thank you to the officers who attended and to Walmart for their efforts organizing this event!
The Scholastic Book Fair will be happening December 8th-December 11th! The goal of Share the Fair is to make sure every student leaves the book fair with a book. The donations help West Greene students get a book that would otherwise not be able to shop the book fair. A few of our 4th graders recently asked to share a presentation with their classmates about their experiences with epilepsy. Their courage in opening up about their challenges and medical journey truly inspired everyone in the room. We are so proud of you—way to go, kiddos!

Mrs. Shannon's Science Classes worked on the Prisms VR Headsets today to learn about how Organisms grow in different places throughout the world. The module that the students did allowed them to manipulate the amount of sun, air, and water a place gets and how that impacts the plants that grow there.

The Student Government Association made their annual donation to the VA Hospital in Pittsburgh. This year, they purchased 100 puzzle books and blankets to be donated. The gifts were delivered to the hospital on Veterans Day.
Students from Student Government attended a student forum at Penn West, California. They worked with students from 13 school districts to learn about leadership roles & goal setting in the school. The students meet once a month for six months to discuss leadership topics, school-related issues, post-secondary planning and service learning.
The West Greene Veterans Day Program was proudly organized by our Music and Media Programs, along with our Student Government Association. We were honored to recognize and celebrate the bravery, service, and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans.
